Michael’s review is the most useful single thing anybody has written about this chapel
It is long, it is specific, and it is the only review in the whole record left by somebody comparing the evening with the day. It also covers the bag rule, the group he was in, and the tickets being handed over to keep. Printed whole:
“Visiting in the early evening was a much better experience than in the day. We were able to quickly enter the site, watch the video which was very good for preparing you for the frescos and then straight into the chapel. The group was small only 10 but there were additional visitors but it was not crowded and we had time to look at the frescos. The guide was excellent at ensuring we were ready to go in. She organised bags to be deposited in left luggage, gave a talk before we went in and was excellent at explaining each of the fresco panels in some depth in the time allowed. We actually had a little longer and enjoyed appreciating the frescos more. Afterwards she gave a history of the chapel until today and how it had and is being managed and conserved. A lovely touch was giving us the tickets to keep which had select frescos on them. An expensive choice but one worth it for the knowledge, ease of getting entry into the chapel as well as a quiet evening slot without the crowds.”
Three things in there are worth separating from the enthusiasm. First, the comparison itself: he says the early evening was much better than the day, and gives crowding as the reason. Second, the group he counts is his group on his night, not a cap the listing publishes — the only listing here that states a party size is the small-group walk. “The guide was excellent. The film was very informative. The Chapel itself is, of course, stupendous. The directions about where to meet were confusing. Instead of saying Piazza Eremitani which is quite large, why were we not told to meet at the entrance of the Museum?”
Her suggestion is better than most of what is written about this address, so it is worth putting plainly: Piazza Eremitani is a square, and the thing you are looking for is the entrance to the museum. She gave five stars anyway. So did Peter, on a different listing, after saying much the same. Two people, two sellers, one square (the walk from the station, and the door).
Reviewers describe a film here too, and the operator does not
Carol calls it a film and Michael calls it a video, on this listing; on the ticket listing several more describe the same thing.
