In its own words: “In the unlikely event that tickets for the Scrovegni Chapel are not available for your date, the visit to the Scrovegni Chapel will be substituted with a similar visit.” Nothing of the kind appears on any other listing on this site. It is also, on reflection, the most honest sentence in the catalogue: the operator does not sell for the same day, admission is limited to twenty-five people per visit, and a seller who has not secured a slot for your date cannot conjure one. This page tells you what happens then. The others do not.
What that means in practice is that a 4.8 here is a score for a Padua walk rather than a guarantee of the chapel. If the chapel is why you are coming, book something whose inclusions name it: the guided visit, or one of the listings that itemise an admission ticket. Seven of the eight are above. The one that is missing is five stars, and its author names her guide, and the guide’s first name is mine. I did not take that tour and I have no connection to this listing, but a review that reads as praise for the person who writes a site does not belong quoted on a page she wrote, however innocent the coincidence. It says nothing about the listing that the other seven do not say, and you can read it where it was left. This paragraph is here because leaving a review out without saying so would be the worse of the two options.
Two four-star reviews, and both want the same thing
Elisabetta Maria wants half an hour more and the Palazzo della Ragione with the guide. Levente, in 2015, wanted to cover more ground than a walk allows. Neither is a complaint about the guide. Both are about the shape of two and a half hours in a city with a great deal in it. What else is within walking distance, and what the chapel ticket already covers, is on Padua in a day.
